What mode is your parallel port set to? If it is set to SPP or
bi-directional (or PS2 or "normal") it will scan slowly. The mode
should be EPP or ECP+EPP to get the best results. Also, are you
running any other processes at the same time (running seti@home
will also slow down the scan)?
