I am now using Mandrake 8.0, kernel 2.4.3. I have been using the
0.37_25 plustek driver; it compiles with some warnings but runs
(and scans) OK with my 9636T. Yesterday I downloaded 0.39_??
(whatever the site says the latest is, can't remember now). It
also compiled with some warnings, but also loaded OK. Also did a
scan with it using Xsane. In the past when I have had unresolved
symbol problems, it has been because parport and parport_pc did
not load automatically; I had to load them manually. In fact, I
have a bash script (scanner) which loads them before loading the
pt_drv, and unloads pt_drv if it is already loaded - scanner acts
as a toggle for loading/unloading the driver. That is what I used
in the above tests.
