I ran into this same problem about 12 months ago. A PIC boot loader with
a host application written for Linux. I couldn't find one I liked so I began
writing one myself. Unfortunately it isn't ready for release yet.
However, I've been successfully using Tiny Bootloader :
http://www.etc.ugal.ro/cchiculita/software/picbootloader.htm
The host application for this boot loader is written for Windoze but runs
perfectly under Wine. The author of this app. has done a good job of it.
So I don't have reservations about recommending it.
The Web site makes no mention of support for the PIC18F7622 but I
would let that stop you trying it. Bootloaders are written to run on a
wide variety of chips.
