I use mainly Ubuntu, now at 9.04. I have also Fedora 10 and Arch Linux installed
for some testing.

The distros are not a problem as long as you use the main-stream full-fledged
Linux distros like Debian, Fedora, OpenSuse, Ubuntu, etc. Just do not
use those distros with bare-minimum packages since your goal is to use
PIC, not becoming an expert in installing Linux packages.
