Check the device /dev/pt_drv, is it present?
Check the /etc/sane.d/plustek.conf file
Check the /etc/sane.d/dll.conf file
Enable the debug messages of the backend prior to start
scanimage:
export SANE_DEBUG_PLUSTEK=12
and send the output to the list
