I will certainly try that, but I probably won't get to it until next
week. Right now I'm still in the testing-to-see-what-works stage.
So far here are my findings:
I've found that if I just scan with the default size with no
preview, almost every binary and gray scan works for the following
dpi's: 50, 250, 500, 1000, and 1200. However, a dpi of 100 messes up
quite a bit.
I haven't gotten a single color or color42 scan to work yet, although
these are the least tested ones so far.
Most of the time when a scan doesn't work, this is what happens:
A short wait, then the scanner moves a small amount, then a long wait,
then this error:
Error during read: Error during device I/O.
Also, if I reboot, this is printed to the screen and logfile:
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: Device not ready. Make sure there
is a disc in the drive.
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 3,
frame# 676
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: sda : status = 1, message = 00,
host = 0, driver = 08
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: Current sd00:00: sense key Not
Ready
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: Additional sense indicates Medium
not present
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: sda : block size assumed to be 512
bytes, disk size 1GB.
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0:
I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
Jun 3 09:07:35 localhost kernel: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
Alright, back to more testing...
