I think you're thinking about Rh7.0. RH7.2 ships with gcc 2.96. If it's
buggy, then the bugs can't be too severe. gpsim compiles and runs just
fine.

Jeethu's problem is "The Readline" problem. The advice I have for right
now is to either a) forcefully install the RPM or b) edit cli/input.cc and
change one of the #define's (around line 38) :

from:

//#define RALF
#define SCOTT

to:

#define RALF
//#define SCOTT

As I said ~ 2 months ago, I intend to fix this readline problem once and
for all in April. My first goal is to get a beta(ish) version of PIC port
of SDCC released by the end of March. It looks like this will happen.
After that I'll go back to gpsim and remove all traces of the readline
library.
