I only found out afterwards that is works on Linux as well. What limitations are there with the freeware Eagle? I haven't used it much, but friends of mine rave about it, especially since it's free.
Quite often I have found with CAD packages like this, you have get to know the package well to get around the "limitations". I don't think there is a perfect CAD package, the one you know the well, is the best one to use. I know OrCAD fairly well, probably because I've used since at University. But it also has bugs / limitations.

Why use it with WINE when there's a Linux version right there on the
download page?
Besides, the guy says he's ALREADY using Eagle.

You could also use Eagle Layout, although it is a Windows program. You could
around that by using WINE. It's freeware for non-commercial use

gEDA http://www.geda.seul.org/
is good at schematic capture; but it hasa nasty user interface.
oregano http://oregano.codefactory.se/
has a great user interface, but its young, and not currently maintained.
Didn't export netlists, either.
(or something like that)
(does have spice interfaces)
PCB http://bach.ece.jhu.edu/~haceaton/pcb/
does pcb layout, but I was unable to get it to import the netlists that
geda exported :-(
both geda and pcb suffer from having archaic interfaces, making them
much much harder to use than it should be. Feature-wise, they *seem*
not bad.
