I've got 2 PIC18LF452s. 44/PLCC versions.
They are engineering samples ahead of the real release of the proc.
I am having the exact same troubles with programming them.
I downloaded the latest MPLAB and the latest Picstart firmware. neither helped
me out.
I only know of ONE way you can program those chips, I tried MPLAB 5.61 and
Promate-II software 5.61.00. It didn't work, the promate FIRMWARE comes in
two bits now.. I PIC18 part, and a PIC12/14/16/17 part.
So I installed the PIC18 part. no go, culdn't select PIC18F452.
interestingly, you can use an OLD version of MPLAB and OLD Promate software.
basically I used the HiTech 'C' to compile a program for PIC18C452.
then I grabbed MPLAB 5.4 (not 5.61) and imported my PIC18c code, then set the
fuses. then I setup the Promate with firmware 5.50.0. It programmed and
worked fine.
The code I used was ported from a PIC16f877 project I work with.
I simply adjusted the fuse settings. Removed all RAM bank references, and then
fiddled soem of the initialisation/control register settings. Included
INTCON1/2/3 and away I went..
lots of things were transparent, RAM location naming for UART, ADC, soem
interrupts.. were unchanged to aid porting.. very nicely done MICROCHIP. oh,
and more importantly, the bit-order in the control registers was also
unchanged.
ANyway, my only problem waqs no data-EEPROM support in the compiler. but have
that now, with 8.12PL1 of PICC18 from hitech.
