Perhaps I was to subtle. You're entering in:

gpsim -c DCC_CommandStation.cod

When you should be entering this:

gpsim -s DCC_CommandStation.cod

note the switch -s vs -c. It's confusing because -c stands for commands, 
but the command files have an extension that starts with s (.stc). While 
at the same time, -s stands for symbols and the symbol files have an 
extension that start with c (.cod). I use gpsim all of the time and I 
*still* mix these up.
