Greetings All:

The new PIC16F877A has improvements in specifications over the PIC16F877
and is lower in cost by about 25% however there may be some migration
difficulties. I wonder if anyone here is using the A version yet?

	1) I wonder if anyone on this list can recommend programming software for
the 16F877A. I notice there is a separate MicroChip programming spec for
the A version which has different flow chart algorithms compared to the
16F877 specification?

	2) I wonder in general what Linux platform programming software
recommendations you may have for the PIC family?

	3) I wonder if anyone here has tried programming a 16F877A with 16F877
software?

BTW there is also a difference in the configuration word specification
thus the source code would need to be changed to reflect the proper
configuration word settings.

TIA
