A pre-0.4f bug crept back into 0.5 and 0.5a which trashes the config bits on large devices like the 
17C44.  DO NOT USE any version other than 0.4f or 0.5b to write a 17C44 (or similarly large device). 
  Due to some spectacular short-sightedness (and over-thinking) on Microchip's part the config bits 
on a windowed 17C44 are NOT eraseable, so the parts will be destroyed (yes, yes, I know they were 
concerned that someone might spot-erase just the config bits with a focused beam of UV light but if 
you're that worried about security don't use a windowed part -- Duh).

This is it now, I mean it.
