I had the same problem. I informed my customers after the first release that
this approach cost them, as it prevented me from using GPL code. I suggested
that if the code was gpl (=stick a file on their site) I could scab (I mean
use) other gpl code and improve the quality of their software, by using less
of mine ;-). As they are not likely to make profit from the software, the
next one probably will be gpl.
