I really like picp and using it with my pictstart plus. I've been using
firmware 2.30 and a serial pcmcia adapter to speak to my unit. These days
however I'm have a lot more apple machines around and am trying to use the
kensington usb/serial adapter. This seems to require that I use a picstart
plus firmware greater than 3.00.40, and a version of picp 5.04c.
I have burned a 17c44 PIC with the 3.00.40 firmware from within MPLAB 5.7
successfully. Even burned other ICs under MPLAB with this new firmware
PIC. However I am unable to use my pcmcia serial adapter, or usb adapter
under linux with this new firmware using the latest version (5.04c) of
picp.
Anyone else encounter similiar issues? I have two more 17C44s, and I guess
because of firmware revisions I'll have to UV erase them to try anything
else.
Any suggestions on how to upgrade my picstart plus firmware from under
linux? I can certainly put the 2.30 firmware in, and use picp 0.4f.
Any suggestions on how to blank a 17c44 from linux or MPlab 5.7? I think
I might have messed up two of my 17c44s and would like to freshen them
up with a clean wipe.
