You're missing the pthread library, or your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment
variable is not set. What version of Linux are you using?

No CVS server, but I'll be putting picp-0.6.2 and gpicp-0.0.7 beta test code
on my web site later today or possibly tomorrow. I'll post an announcement
when it's available.
