I've used dosemu and the picstart to program pics. I haven't used it
recently, but it definately worked with dosemu 0.96. I just setup
dosemu for access to the right serial port, and things work fine. It is
sort of slow, but I never compared it to native execution.
I have also run the picstart programming under wine. That may be
another approach. The current versions of wine will run some parts of
mplab without problems, but not all. For example, I can't get the In
Circuit Debugger to work completely.
