I'm chipping away at it... At the moment, I've got a replacement for the 
register window widget which means the gtk+extra package won't be needed. 
I think many of you will be glad to see one more dependency removed!

In addition to the gui, I've also been working on modules. I'm trying to 
remove all of the bit-rot on the usart module!
