I just installed a Belkin F5U109 USB/Serial adapter for my PDA. I assume
that it should also work for various serial PIC programmers. Here are my
notes.
===================================================
I have Debian installation with kenel 2.4.20
Plug in the Belkin F5U109T USB to Serial device then
Become root and do the following:
Add the following lines to the end of the /etc/usbmgr/usbmgr.conf file:
# Belkin F5U109 USB to serial adapter
vendor 0x50d product 0x0109 module mct_u232
Restart the usbmanager as follows:
cd /etc/init.d
./usbmgr stop
./usbmgr stop
You can look into /proc/tty to see which that the device has been added as:
/dev/ttyUSB
To see which device has been setup, type
dmesg
This shows /dev/ttyUSB8 has been added.
Set the Palm to 38400 baud and no flow control.

speed=38,4000
flowctl = OFF
Use J-Pilot at 38,400baud and no flow control.
