If you thinkmake is simple you arn't using it for anything
non-trivial ;-)  I have a large-ish C project (40,000 lines of code in
20 source files) that uses the gnu automake tools.  I started to use the
automake tools when the makefiles got too big to maintain by hand, so I
know about make thanks :-)

However "gpasm myfile.asm" (especialy when its in the shell's command
history) is quite upto the job of building my PIC code.

Anyway I've already modified gpasm to achieve my aim.
I've simply added a new symbol (in the same way that "#define" would),
and just set to the current date.  I think I did it a different way last
time which was more complicated !
