There is a directory MPLAB/ICD2 full of *.hex files. The ICD????????.hex 
are likely various firmware versions uploaded to the ICD2 processor for 
various targets. The other are debug stubs for the target device. Try 
delete/rename the files one at a time and attempt debugging with MPLAB to 
find out. Disassembly and reverse engineering would be the next steps. You 
wanted a challenging project, didn't you? :-)
