Subject: picp to ps+ via usb->serial adaptor

I'm using a Belkin f5u109 usb to serial adaptor, and, although the
device is registered by the kernel, and it gets a terminal device, I
can't make contact with the programmer.

I see the little light flashing on the adaptor, but picp fails out
with: "failed to connect to PICSTART Plus", and I get this in the
logfile:

=8<--
Picp 0.6.6 comm debug file opened 05/29/05 16:47
Options: -c /dev/ttyUSB0 16f877a -rp

Has anyone gotten this to work on their setup (meaning, serial over
usb via this adaptor...)

Bill Marr (on the linux usb list at sourceforge) says he has the
adaptor working ("for short periods of time") using modems and USP.

How could I look more closely myself at the picp -> programmer comms?

Yours,

Tsu
