Using bluetooth might shoot yourself in the foot...
Bluetooth arranges devices into "piconets" - these may include up to 8
nodes...
So it will be quite difficult to get larger numbers communicating.
We have used these in the past:

However they do not have collision detection or anything like that, so for
ease of use you may consider something like these:
http://www.radiometrix.co.uk/products/spm2.htm
Alternatively, rather than bluetooth it maybe worth considering using
zigbee...
