I just found that I actually do not have kde-devel installed. Perhaps your
download
could be a bit smaller. "sudo apt-get install kdebase-devel" should be
sufficient. 

Anyway, you have got the 50Meg and ktechlab should work. Nowadays, it seems
broadband 
is really necessary to play with Linux, even more so than Windows. There are
so many
security updates from time to time and so many dependency packages.
