Xiaofan,

James' post is a 'heads up' post of changes that will be happening to the
COFF file format. This only affects gputils and specifically gplink and
gpasm. And the change will only be an issue if one is attempting to link
object files or libraries built from both the gputils and MicroChip tool
suites.

It does not affect gpsim since the COFF -> COD translator in gputils
insulates gpsim from COFF. Craig or I should've publicly acknowledge
James' post at the time. Thanks for bringing this up so that we can
acknowledge it now.
