OK, understood.

Well, as first step I have installed now GCC 3.3.5 both under OS/2 and 
Linux, and the GNU make utility too.
As second step I'll do a cleanup my sources: the 'unsigned long' 
returncodes will be com 'int' and the 'unsigned char' will become 'char' 
where possible (I don't use char as counter).
I may use the -funsigned-char compiler option.
Then I'll try to get rid of all errors and warnings.

Well, if the function is not necessary then the 'nul'-macro may be good 
enough. _searchenv() is used in xwisp2 only in an effort to locate the 
xwisp2.cfg file before open.
