I thinks a bit more about this and I come to the conclusion that
maybe you are right and by doing this it will be more like a UNIX
application. You can also make a Debian package or RPM to make
it more like a Linux application if that is what you want. A
.tgz or .tar.gz extension might be better than .zip under
UNIX/Linux as well. ;-) The potential problem is that different
Linux distributions may have different preferences of putting files
into certain directories.
That being said, I would still prefer to put them in the same
directory and under my home directory. I feel this is easier for
me and there will be less hassles to deal with regarding the
permissions and all that. Anyway xwisp2 is not that big application.
To be honest, I keep all the versions since version 1.6.1 just
in case they are useful later.
Anyway, you can always modify the Makefile and tailor it to your
preferences. You have the choices. Free/Open world is good. ;-)
