There are some compiling problems with the following
three C files under SDCC snapshot.
system/usb/usb9/usb9.c
system/usb/usbctrltrf/usbctrltrf.c
system/usb/class/cdc/cdc.c
Error message:
Assertion failed: IS_DATA_PTR(operandType(left)),
file gen.c, line 10532

Did you ever get this tar file from Julian? Have you posted
it somewhere for download? I started to work on this, but then
saw this thread and decided I would ask before doing any more.
