I think the original lab2 firmware is written in relocatable 
mode and you change it to absolute mode in the gpasm port. 
Any particular reason to do this?

Now I do not have the PICDEM FS USB to test but I have changed
Mark's modified code for PICkit 2 to work using relocatable 
mode.
