I downloaded it and I have no problem to build it under Fedora Core 4.
The interface is quite nice and I think piklab is using this as well.
The help (PiKdev Handbook) is missing though since it brings up KDE
help instead.

One request: It would be nice that I can disable the start-up check of the
programmer. I do not have any programmers that PiKdev supports and it
is a bit annoying to drag the small warning pop-up behind the start-up
banner and close the warning pop-up. I think a "Enable programmer"
menu option is better.

That would be nice. Rob Hamerling's xwisp2 (for Wisp628) and Mark
Rages' pyk ( python based application for PICkit 2) are two candidates
I can think of now besides the pk2 and picp by Jeff Post.
