You may wish to grab the unannounced version of gpsim:

Why unannounced? Well, when I upgraded to rh7, 0.20.7 wouldn't compile for
me. So I fixed it. But I'm not sure if it broke for earlier Linux distros or
not. I guess it's announced now. This version does not have any of Ralf's recent
profile enhancements.

I'm fairly certain though that this version should work for you.
