Hi George,
the LF pic parts are pics that can work at LOW AND HIGH voltages. In fact 
the picxxLFxx serie works exactely like the PicxxFxx parts but the range of 
DC is much larger.
When the F serie works only in about   5.5> Vdd > 4.5   the LF series works 
in   the range (approx)  6.2 > Vdd > 2.8volts.
So you can burn your  LF252 pic at 5 volts without any problem either for 
COnfig Word or for STD Code.
