Hi Group,
gentoo is giving me mucho frustrations. The bug people seem to think I'm
making this up.
Long story short: modules don't load, uname points to wrong kernel. After
modprobe forcedeth, for example, dmesg gives:
May 7 10:55:38 localhost forcedeth: version magic '2.6.12-gentoo-r6 586
gcc-3.4' should be '2.6.12-gentoo-r6 586 gcc-3.3'
Doesn't seem to like my gcc version
I'm ready to chuck it and try another OS. Got to get into micros! Any
suggestions?

1.
Please ensure /boot is mounted and then post the following:
ls -l /usr/src/linux-2.6.16-gentoo-r3/arch/i386/boot/bzImage
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1220856 May 8 18:46 /usr/src/linux-2.6.16-gentoo-r3
/arch/i386/boot/bzImage
> md5sum /usr/src/linux-2.6.16-gentoo-r3/arch/i386/boot/bzImage

See, thinks it's still 2.6.12.
