GPAL was and still is alpha status code. It's not ready for production use.

sdcc is a more mature product of course.

And there's always gpasm which is rock solid. I've been using it for projects
over the last several years.

I just think it's a bad idea to pin your development of a system that currently
isn't released and is in the alpha stage of development.
