I now have a PICkit2 programmer and have got it to work with linux and PK2
software. Started programming chips on boards that can be programmed
using picstart+. All went well, programmed a 16F877, erase function
however did not work.

Then I moved up to programming a 18F2550, and this is where the problems
started. PK2 listes the 18F2550 as a supported chip. When I program it
all seems well, then when I read the chip all locations are zero. Maybe
the thing is in memory protect mode, but the erase function is not
working so I cant clear the config bits....

Are there any known issues with the PICkit2 and PK2 software that could
explain the problems I am getting.

Julian
