Which versions of gpsim and gpasm are you installing?
For gpsim, I'd recommend 0.20.8 or greater because it fixes a C++ bug (that
wasn't a problem in older version of gcc).
Gor gpasm, I'd recommend the 0.9.x series. 0.9.4 is the latest.
