I got it working at last. I didn't have Gnu Readline installed on
my system. I installed Gnu Readline 4.2 and found I still couldn't
compile Gpsim. I tried uninstalling readline 4.2 and installing
readline 4.1 instead. That solved the first problem. Next I
had to install Popt-1.5. Then I was able compile Gpsim.
I like the program a lot. I find I can run simulations faster
than running the same program on a 4MHz PIC. That
makes it hundreds of times faster than the old DOS
simulator I used to use! (PSIM5X)
To build Gpsim-0.20.10, I needed:
eXdbm-0.1.0b2.tar.gz special version from Gpsim web site.
gtk+extra-0.99.16.tar.gz from gtk+extra web site.
readline-4.1.tar.gz from ftp.gnu.org 4.2 wouldn't work for me.
popt-1.5.tar.gz can't remember where I found it.
Many thanks to Scott and Matt for their help. Who says you don't get good
support with open-source software?

Eamon Skelton.
