I really didn't intend on mail bombing the list with this discussion. 
Oh well.

Are you refering to the spec file located in gpsim-0.20.1-0.src.rpm?  I
don't believe this spec is being used any more.

Currently, binaries are being generated by the makefile and template in
the rpm subdirectory of the source.

Although the new method does use an alternate build area, it does not
prevent multiple rpms of different versions from being generated.  That
is not to say that the new method doesn't violate some other "rule", but
it does work. 

Please take a look at the new method, I would like to hear any
suggestions you have.
