If you really want to go through all this again, it is in the archives.
We chose to use the MPL with a convert-to-GPL clause over the LGPL because
it is better suited to what we want, which is to allow people to freely
use the code however they want, as long as they contribute any
improvements to our code back to us.
For instance, the LGPL has clauses such as those that require you to
distribute the "work that uses the library" as a seperate object file to
"the library" along with the tools needed to link them together (which in
the case of a proprietory embedded system might mean a commercial SDK).
