Well, this is the way that Microwindows currently includes
built-in fonts and bitmaps - through the use of tree-built
applications that process the files and output .c files.

I think the earlier discussed issue was one of using utilities to
adjust or generate tables that already have a C representation,
one that wasn't liked because it had #ifdefs.
