There are enough decent news listing sites already without needing to put
news onto a site specifically about a windowing system :)

If you have the resources to do a decent job of it, you should aim to
build something similar to Gnome.org. Description of the project, recent
news about the project, links to documentation, where to download the
source code from, TODO lists, descriptions of everything which has been
ported to/written for it, a http view of the CVS repository, a bug
tracking system, etc.
