Good morning!

I'd be most grateful for any help that you can give me in resolving the
following problems that I'm experiencing with my Epson Perfection 1250
scanner, which I'm trying to activate through my Linux-2.4.13 box,
SANE-1.0.7 and the plustek-sane-0_42_5 backend.

When I try to run "make load" from the plustek_driver subdirectory, this
command produces the following messages:

/sbin/modprobe pt_drv || exit 1

/lib/modules/2.4.13/misc/pt_drv.o: init_module: Success

/lib/modules/2.4.13/misc/pt_drv.o: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by
incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters

/lib/modules/2.14.3/misc/pt_drv.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.13/misc/pt_drv.o
failed

/lib/modules/2.4.13/misc/pt_drv.o: insmod pt_drv failed

make: *** [load] Error 1

After re-running with `make all DEBUG=y', `make install' and `make load',
the following lines appear in /var/log/messages:

    kernel: usb.c: registered new driver usbscanner
    kernel: scanner.c: probe_scanner: User specified USB scanner --
            Vendor:Product - 4b8:10F
    kernel: scanner.c: 0.4.6: USB Scanner Driver
    kernel: pt_drv : driver version 0.42-6
    kernel: pt_drv : no device(s) detected, (-9020)

2.
--
"scanimage --list-devices" produced a kernel panic with the messages:
   `killing interrupt handler!' and `interrupt handler - not syncing'.

3.
--
After exporting SANE_DEBUG_PLUSTEK=12 and SANE_DEBUG_DLL=12, I ran
"scanimage epson:/dev/usbscanner0". The resulting list of messages,
prefixed with [dll], hung after the following lines:

   load: loading backend epson
   load: dlopen()ing `/usr/local/lib/sane/libsane-epson.so.1'
   init: initializing backend `epson'
                           There was no such line as:
   init: backend `epson' is version....

                    ***************************

* The scanner is listed in /proc/bus/usb/devices.

*   "sane-find-scanner" finds USB scanner (vendor = 0x04b8, product = 0x010f
    at device /dev/usbscanner0 and at /dev/usbscanner.

*   In /usr/local/etc/sane.d:
        the file plustek.conf includes the lines:
             [usb] 0x04b8 0x010f
             device /dev/usbscanner0
        the file epson.conf includes the line:
             usb /dev/usbscanner0

                     ***************************

TIA
