Finally I have my Epson 1250 working with the iscan 1.3.0 and the image
quality is great :-) I recompiled sane 1.0.8 and iscan and it started
working.

This is a sample image which I originally scanned at 1200dpi resolution with
kooka, then resized with gimp:
