Not yet here, but if you go back up the log of this list, someone
did. He may be able to tell you.

I don't believe so Gerhard. I've backed my scanner clear to the
bump stops point for the active scan area without getting a black
strip to show in the scan. So I think this has to be done with the
lamp off, and off long enough for a true fade to black, my guess is
around 5 seconds, maybe more because of the slowly fadeing pinkish
afterglow mine has. One could make it automatic I'd guess if a
read was done immediately after shutting off the lamp, and a second
read 1 second later, then compare for <2lsb diff, which it won't of
course, in which case save the second read's data in the first
buffer and read it a third time. Just keep repeating until 2
successive line reads return within 2 lsb of the same data, which
would tell me the lamp is now pretty well dark. This of course
won't cancel the glass effects but its probably as close as we're
gonna get on a 100 dollar scanner.
I'll go get that before I quit this session of 'computin', (got it)
but it probably won't get built till later. The honeydo's keep
calling, like get some wood preservative on the back deck etc.
Loverly work in 95 degree weather & I'm courting skin cancer, my
back is slowly turning a very dark tan.
But somebody has to do it or it won't outlive me. :-)
