Hi, the answer to this issue has be given indeed a billion times ;-)
Anyway! The early Plustek USB models (U12 and UT12) were in fact
parallel-port devices, using an USB-to-parallel brigde. They use the
product ID 0x0001. The newer devices use the Merlin chipset LM983x.
They are the only supported ones so far.
It might be possible to make the 0x0001 devices work by checking
the USB communication and find out, how the USB brigde works, as
the parallelport driver already supports the used scanner ASIC...
"Simply" the communication with the USB-to-parallel bridge is missing...
