Hi,

The situation has improved and I wanted to share the
progress so far:

The problem was that my epson perfection 1250 did not
work with iscan or the epson drivers and produced red
images with the plustek driver.

I noticed that my original rpms were in /usr/... and
the new sane frontend and backend packages were
installed in /usr/local/...

Reinstalled the thing:
	* editing the configure script (changing
	ac_default_prefix=/usr/)
	* running configure again
	* make install
and it works well now :)

It still does not work with iscan and the epson
drivers.

check it out:

Other stuff:
	* isnmod scanner vendor=0x4b8 product=0x10f
	 you need to have the scanner module installed
	* The vendor and product I got from:
		cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
	  or you could get it from you mandrake
	   control center - information - usb devices
	* Make sure you have read write permission:
	  For example:
	   > ls -l /dev/usb
	  crw-------    1 root     usb      180,  48 Jan  1
1970 scanner0
	   > mknod /dev/usbscanner c 180 48
	   > chown username:username /dev/usbscanner

	* editted /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
		/etc/sane.d/plustek.conf

	* run with:
		xsane -d plustek:/dev/usbscanner

Thanks for your help,
shuri
