Hi Pieter,

when looking at the debug output, you'll see, that
the memory test for your device failed. The driver
detects the ASIC but that's all. Well there are two
possible ways:
1. We disable the memory test and assume that you scanner
    is compatible to the Primax 4800
2. You open the scanner and tell me what ICs you see inside

Maybe you can set your parport settings to EPP in the BIOS
or you try the SPP mode. As long as the debug output says:
"No memory! No scanner..." the driver refuses to load.
