Problems with Plustek Scanner on a parallel port. Keep getting error
during read: error during device i/o errors. Preview scan doesn't work
at all in xsane but scanning at various dpi of limited areas work ok.
It is rather errtatic in functioning.
scanimage -T works fine up 400 dpi in colour mode. At 600 dpi the test
fails.
The Linux machine is a 166 Mhz Cyrix cpu running Redhat 7.1 and kernel
2.4.3-12 and is usually very lightly loaded. There a 2 lp ports ...
have tried either one with the scanner. One is an ECC port and the
other SPP. I haven't been able to get linux to recognize the ECC port
in ECC mode. The scanner is connected to lp1 at the moment which is an
SPP port
I am using sane-frontends-1.0.5.2 and sane-backends-1.0.5.4 (both
rawhide distro ... clean install). Driver .39-4 built ok.
I need help .... I have searched the internet on this problem ... seems
a lot of other scanners have similar problems .... but I have seen no
solutions.
This scanner works fine on the same machine in Windoze .... I see no
reason why it shouldn't function reasonably under Linux.
