Hallo Gerhard und Frank,
the same problem with SuSE 7.2, Kernel 2.2.18, plustek-sane-0.39.3, 
sane-1.0.4-101), the new make file and your new procedure, Gerhard, 
was the solution. plustek-module-0.39.3 was not necessary, right?
