Hi,

well - it is not quite clear whether a OP9636 contains a
96003 or 98003 ASIC, in your case there's a 96003 one!

The problem here is, that the memory can't be detected and so
the EPP read functions didn't work correctly!
Try the following:
Enable only EPP in your BIOS
or
Disable the IEEE1284 stuff in your kernels parport configuration

It seems again, that the autodetection for some IEEE1284 devices
will disturb the ASIC setup
