Hi, the problem is, that Plustek has sold several UT12 types!
The early ones AFAIK use the parallelport stuff and a parallel to USB
bridge - they are in fact not supported. The only UT12 models, that
are supported have the 0x17 as product ID.
And it seems, that you have an older one - sorry
